Job Purpose / Context:
Rates Technology team is looking for a Java developer in Shanghai be part of a highly business delivery focused Sales Technology team. A successful candidate will have detailed understanding of software design/best practice along with a strong technical ability, good communication skills, an interest in learning and applying new technologies, ability to work closely other technical groups and an interest in learning business concepts that are key to the success of their application.
Job Responsibilities / Role:
• Requirements gathering with help from BA’s
• Design and development of front office platform for Sales focusing on server-side engineering
• Liaison with the global business analyst, peer development and support teams
• Testing and UA coordination
• Troubleshoot performance and scalability issues
• Third line support of the platform during trading hours
• Ability to translate understanding of Fixed Income Rates/Futures financial products to the full development lifecycle
Key Relationships:
• Other MSST Technology Teams responsible for eTrading, Risk, Trade Processing, Data and Client Information.
• EMEA/NAM/Asia Rates Sales Business Analyst team
• Senior Development Managers/Solution Owners in Rates and other Markets IT areas (Credit, FXLM, Client Centricity, etc)
• Stakeholders in support functions – Middle Office, Operations, Risk, Financial Control, Data Management
• Global Developer, QA, BA and support community.
Basic Qualification:
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or a related field.

Total and Relevant Experience:
• Broker/Customer Markets, Market making
• 3+ years of work experience in Investment Banking Front Office space
• Knowledge of Front office Sales/Trading workflows
• Understanding of terms/concepts like Earned Value, Inquiry, RFQ/RFS, Delta/Gamma, PAA, Hedge, etc.
• Experience writing concise business specifications
• Prior knowledge of Financial Products (preferably Fixed Income products) and associated market/trading conventions (preferable)
Technical Skills Required:
• 3+ years Java/JavaEE application development experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in Java and Object-Oriented Design and development principles
• Experience with service oriented architecture and REST based web service development. Sound API design and knowledge of HTTP principles is vital to providing robust, easily consumed services for the rest of the company
• Expert in implementing successful high-performance multi-threaded server applications
• Experience writing performance-critical code
• Working knowledge of various application server including but not limited to Tomcat, Jetty
Non Technical Skills Required:
• Good team working skills and ability to work in a distributed global team environment
• Ability to quickly grasp new concepts, both technical and business workflows.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Self-motivated and with determination to achieve goals
